I can still remember the first time I ever heard “Home” by Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros. It was in the midst of my college years and I can recall a few buddies of mine skipping class and making a day of it at the local bars. While on our journey between bars the song came on and made an instant impact. We replayed the song all day and to this day it still sends me back to that moment as soon as it comes on.
With that said, over the years we have heard more than a few renditions of the record but non-other like the latest flip from Zwette and Julian Perretta. Their version of the old-school hit features the essence of the old on the beat with a modern twist.
The song is a bit more upbeat, while still maintaining the meaningful cool the original boasts. Julian Perretta’s vocals are simply beautiful and do a great job of paying homage to the original lyrics while shedding a soulful new outlook on them making for a solid record when all is said and done!
Zwette and Julian Perretta have managed to breathe a new life into the aging hit and for that we thank you! We’ll be heading to ACL in Austin, Texas this week. You can bet this song will no doubt be part of the playlist that is the soundtrack to our trip all weekend long!
