This is the first impression of 20-year-old up and comer Rod Wave we have had on Rage Robot but after hearing his latest drop “Freestyle” I have no doubt it won’t be our last.
“Freestyle” features an easy-going vibe on the beat that is held down to no end by Rod‘s sexy/savvy bars from beginning to end. Taking a bit of inspiration from Drake the young rapper quotes the Young Money hard hitter’s “Shout out to the players living tax-free, these days its 6 figures when they tax me.” Rod does an excellent job of working this iconic line into this record in his own way. The song as a whole encompasses a melodic storytelling vibe that makes for an unforgettable hit when all is said and done.
We’ll be on the look out for more from Rod in the future but for now we’ll be rocking out to “Freestyle” for the rest of the month!
