There’s nothing quite like finding some new hip-hop with a good sound that is not some mumble rapper spitting garbage over a beat. Just caught wind of Arizona native artist Dun’te Marshall-Garcia a.k.a Tay Da Crown and I gotta say I am an instant fan.
Tay’s first single “Lost” finds him collaborating with Los Angeles based producer Cee-One. The record will capture your attention right from the jumps as Cee-One serves up a solid bass-heavy beat that sets the tone for the entire song. Tay Da Crown’s verses are confident and hard-hitting. He is easy to understand, well-received, and proves to bolster a true to hip-hop storytelling style that I love. The song as a whole is a vibe, you could literally find yourself getting lost in this one. Throw it on your next chilled out playlist and it will entertain every time it comes on.
This is our first impression of the Phoenix-based artist but I think it is safe to say it will not be our last. I would be interested to hear Tay on a fast passed record so that I could get a full view of his style but until then I’ll be vibing out hard to “Lost.”
