I recently had the pleasure of discovering indie-pop duo EXES and I gotta say they are exactly what I need in my life right now. Their music, according to the duo themselves, is inspired by the people, places, and things of their past. Something I think everyone can relate to as we have all had really high highs and some of the lowest lows.
“It’s Not You, It’s Me” features an airy, almost whimsical vibe on the beat at the beginning of the song. As things progress the beat evolves into an infectious compilation of well-produced music that proves to be the perfect complement to some unforgettable lyricism. The record has a subtle rolling rhythm to it that will capture any and all who listen to the track all the way through. The hook is well performed will no doubt have you hitting the replay button over and over again on this easy going vibe.
This is the first impression of EXES we have had on Rage Robot but after hearing this initial song I have every intention of scrapping their full library for more wavy records, but until then I’ll be rocking out to “It’s Not You, It’s Me” for a good long while.
