Funny enough I heard this song on a Friday during the last hours of work. Funny because during that time I am usually listening to some sort of EDM or fast-paced music to get me in the right state of mind for the upcoming weekend events. Instead, I was pleasantly introduced to James Blake, the Litherland English singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and record producer from London. While the tone of his latest record “Are You Even Real?” wasn’t my usual goto on a Friday afternoon it was just what I needed to calm my nerves and allow me to zen out for a whole minute.
“Are You Even Real?” features a mysterious vibe on the beat that is littered with musical break downs from a multitude of instruments. The strings and the keys all get a moment to shine through and the symphony of sounds plays the perfect complement to James’ amazing vocals. The melody of lyrics is unexpected and creates a unique sound.
This song is astonishing and was enough to leave me curious as to what else the young artist has released.
